• The operator will send the message to the mechanic (me) before the tasks will started. When I get to the machine, I question the operator to know the problem on the machine. I may test the machine to determine the exact problem as stated by the operator. I do walk-around inspection to see if there is any mechanical fault on the machine.
• I then do my safety procedures. The machine is parked on a safe and level place; danger tag, padlock, chocks and service tag are put on the machine; machine inspection is done to ensure that the machine risk assessment was completed to capture hazards on the machine. After that, if no obvious mechanical fault is found, I will connect the CAT ET to diagnosis the fault.
• Problem: Implement droop. Possible Cause: (i)flow control spool is not operating properly, load control valve may be stuck in the boom circuit, bucket circuit or the stick circuit. Solution: I checked the pressure on the control valve by using a pressure gauge, the pressure was lower than specification, so the pressure was adjusted to300psi (manufacturer’s specification) by using an Allen key and spanner. The problem was solved.

• Overhauling and Repairs: Complete machine overhauling by changing out engine, transmission, hydraulic cylinders and hoses. Complete undercarriage works are carried out: replacing final drives, idlers, rollers, segments, stabilizer bar (if defective), telescopic adjustments (if defective). Hydraulic system work: dismantling, resealing and rebuilding of hydraulic cylinders. Replacement of oil seals, wiper seals, backup seals, O-rings and check for defective pistons, replacing as necessary, troubleshooting and fixing hydraulic faults like transmission selectors and breaking system. Identify malfunctioning parts and components and repair or replace them as required. This includes pumps (transmission, hydraulic, water), axels, torque converters, final drives and complete transmission.
